The medicine capsules produced by Shanghai's two medical capsule companies adhere to local standards, the city's food and drug administration said Wednesday.
But medicine capsules made by a Zhejiang Province pharmaceutical manufacturer were found containing high levels of chromium. The pills have since been pulled off store shelves, authorities assured.
The tests were carried out by the city after State media exposed nine pharmaceutical companies nationwide for failing to meet industry regulations.
