Two Beijing companies are being sued by technology giant Microsoft for allegedly installing pirated Windows and Microsoft Word in their computers, the Beijing Evening News reported. Microsoft demanded 10 million yuan ($1.59 million) yesterday when the case was heard in Beijing, on World Intellectual Property Day.
The accused, co-provider for business-to-business portal Mingwan Wang, ordered 1 million yuan of genuine product to stave off a suit, but Microsoft filed the lawsuit on December 30 before the orders arrived.
