A 26-year-old mother was sentenced to 12 years in jail Wednesday for suffocating her daughter to take revenge against her abusive husband, the Beijing Evening News reported.
The woman, Hu Guangyu, attempted suicide after killing the 1-year-old on April 27 in her home in Pinggu district. Beijing No.2 Intermediate Court found Hu guilty of intentional homicide.
Hu's husband, surnamed Chen, admitted to having hit her and asked for the charges, brought by public prosecutors, to be dropped.
