Three were killed, while another two injured, Saturday in a gas blast in south China's Guangdong province, authorities said.
Fire was triggered at about 7:20 am as a gas cylinder exploded in an apartment at Lingting New Village in Chenghua Street, Chenghai district in the city of Shantou, said a spokesman with the emergency management office of the Shantou city government.
The fire was put out at 8:20 am, he said.
Initial investigation showed the residents in the apartment had used the gas improperly, which may have caused the accident. Further investigation is under way.
