Online 'pickpocket' case

An advertising company manager is suspected of pretending to be a pickpocket online to promote a client's mobile phone, after claiming to have stolen several of the phones from visitors at People's Park. 

Shanghai police opened an investigation into the case after the man, surnamed Lin, bragged about the alleged episodes on his microblog.

He had also claimed that the stolen phones were worth a total of 6,000 yuan ($948), said police.
