Rescuers retrieved the body of a 22-year-old man Tuesday, who drowned in the Houhai Lake in Xicheng district, the Legal Mirror reported.
A witness said he saw the man, identified as Shu Zhiqiang, swimming with two friends on Sunday in the murky and weed-ridden waters of Houhai.
Summer is the high season for drowning incidents in Beijing.
