The Tongren Hospital throat doctor, Xu Wen, is demanding a retrial of her attacker Wang Baoming, who stabbed and severely injured Xu last year to revenge what he saw as her medical misconduct.
Wang was jailed for 15 years for the attack on April 20. Xu contended it was "a light sentence" for the offense. Xu's lawyer said her injury means she can no longer perform surgery.
Xu treated Wang six years ago to remove tumors from his vocal cords. He lost the ability to speak after the procedure.
