Three people died and at least 10 were injured when a van hit a bus on Sunday in east China's Anhui Province, local authorities said on Monday.
The van caught fire after a head-on collision with the bus at around 2:40 p.m. on a highway in Fengyang county, said Huang Yiqing, an officer with the county's traffic police authority.
"The flames spread to the bus and both vehicles were destroyed," he said.
The van driver and a passenger sitting in the front seat died at the scene. The other passenger suffered serious injuries.
The bus driver, seriously injured, died in hospital on Sunday night, according to Huang.
All the 15 passengers on the bus escaped before the bus was engulfed in flames. Some of them suffered slight injuries, he added.
As of Monday, most of the injured passengers were discharged from hospital and the cause of the accident was under investigation.
