The "Beijing Spirit through the Eyes of Foreign Friends" photo contest represents the profound meaning of the Beijing Spirit—"Patriotism, Innovation, Inclusiveness, Virtue" via imagery, and will allow foreign friends living in or visiting Beijing to experience the beauty and feeling of this amazing city. The Organizing Committee sincerely invites you and your friends to participate in the photo contest, and submit your photo works.
Rules of the Photo Contest
1. Qualification of the participants: non-Chinese Nationality
2. Themes of Photos: Patriotism, Innovation, Inclusiveness, Virtue
(1) Citizens' great affection for China and the city they live in;
(2) Growing innovation momentum in dynamic Beijing;
(3) Harmonious multi-cultural coexistence in Beijing;
(4) Social morality of residents in the great ancient capital.
3. Photo Requirements:
(1) Photos shall emphasize the Beijing Spirit theme;
(2) Photos must be true and original (no computer created works), however, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and "stitched" images are acceptable so long as they represent actual scenes or events with no physical objects added or removed from the image using computer software.
(3) Photos must have been taken by the entrants themselves.
4. Participation:
(1) Photos should be submitted with the completed entry form showing the titles of the works, sites where the photos were taken, names of the photographed objects or events, the photographer's name, nationality, occupation, address, postal code and telephone or cell phone number. (The entry form can be downloaded at www.btmbeijing.com.)
(2) Format Requirements:
Only the digital version of an image is acceptable (the size of each photo should be no less than 18MB, i.e., the pixel quality of the digital camera should be no less than 8 million pixels. The photos should be taken in the biggest format a camera allows).

Please write "Photos for the Contest" on the envelope. We will identify the date of mailing as indicated by the postmark. Or, original works may be submitted via e-mail. 5. Deadline of Submission: October 30, 2012.
(Photos submitted before the end of July may also be entered in the "Seven Days in Beijing" photo contest.)
6. Return of Photos:
Photographers will bear responsibility if the digital versions of the works are damaged in the process of posting. The Organizing Committee will do its utmost to store submitted photos carefully. The submitted photos will not be returned to the participants after the contest. However, participants may request the return of their photos and may recover their photos during the period of December 2012 to March 2013. Any photos remaining after March 2013 will be regarded as abandoned.
7. Rights of the Organizing Committee and the Participants:
(1) The Organizing Committee has a perpetual and unlimited use right to the photos submitted and may use them in exhibitions and publications.
(2) Any responsibility involving copyrights, portrait rights and the rights of reputation of the photos should be borne by the photographer.
(3) The Organizing Committee of the photo contest reserves the right of final explanation in these matters.
Evaluation
To encourage the entry of excellent photos in the contest, the Organizing Committee will invite experts to constitute an evaluation panel. Three hundred photos will be selected in the initial evaluation. From these photos, the panel will select 50 photos for awards. Upon further evaluation, these 50 photos will be judged to decide which will be awarded the Grand-Prize, Runners-Up and Third Place winners.
10,000 yuan each will be given to Grand Prize winners (2);
5,000 yuan each for Runners-Up winners (5);
3,000 yuan each for Third Place winners (10);
500 yuan each for winners of an honorable mention (33).

Judges will include leaders and experts on photography from the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Information Office of Beijing Municipality, Beijing Amateur Society of Photography and other departments and institutions, and professional photographers from renowned media. Committee reserves the right to make final decisions about any aspect of the photo contest or its rules.
