President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday vowed to maintain communication and coordination regarding the Syrian conflict.
The two leaders made the pledge during a formal talk held Tuesday afternoon.
During their talk, Hu and Putin called on the international community to continue supporting UN-Arab League Joint Envoy Kofi Annan's mediation efforts and the work of the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) in order to put an end to the violence in Syria.
Putin is currently paying a state visit to China and will attend the 12th meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) scheduled to be held in Beijing from Wednesday to Thursday.
Putin's current visit is his first to China during his third term as Russian president.
