Torrential rains have swept across southwest China's Guizhou province over the past several days, killing three people and affecting more than 220,000, local authorities said Monday.
Floods and mudslides caused by the downpours had killed three people and affected 226,000 people in Kaili city and Tianzhu and Majiang counties by Sunday, the provincial government said.
More than 2,200 people were evacuated and nearly 900 houses had collapsed. A total of 7,400 hectares of farmland was also affected.
The provincial meteorological center said the weather will improve on Monday as rains in most of the areas are expected to cease.
