Shenzhen Customs said on Monday it busted a luxury goods smuggling gang in coordination with Shenzhen police and Hangzhou Customs in Zhejiang province.
Thirteen suspects, including one Hong Kong resident, were caught and a large amount of luxuries including Hermes, Armani, Cartier, Gucci, D&G clothes, bags and shoes worth more than 100 million yuan ($15.8 million) were seized.
According to the Shenzhen Customs, its anti-smuggling department got information at the end of March that a gang was hiring smugglers to bring luxury goods from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, and then send them to customers in other cities including Tianjin and Hangzhou through logistics companies.
The department later found a Hong Kong resident who was receiving orders and sending them to the mainland.
