Firefighters put out a fire Wednesday that had been blazing in a forest in Shanxi province for nearly two days, according to local authorities.
The fire started around 6 p.m. Monday in the forest in Jinzhong city in central Shanxi. By 9 a.m. Wednesday, more than 3,000 people had been mobilized to extinguish it, a provincial government spokesman said.
It is still unclear what caused the fire and how much forest had been burned.
