Wu Long, 52, a professor from the Central Conservatory of Music of China (CCM) allegedly jumped to his death from his home on the 17th floor on Sunday. Fellow musicians posted eulogies to him online.
Peng Kangliang, Wu's colleague, posted online that he had been joking with Wu a few days before, and he could not believe he was dead.
"We would call each other 'maestro' whenever we met," Peng said.
Website musicology.cn posted the news yesterday, but CCM had not officially released any information regarding Wu's death as of last night.
