Twenty-seven celebrities, most in the sports field, were cheated out of 55 million yuan ($8.6 million) altogether in a property scam, the Legal Mirror reported. The two suspects stood trial at Beijing No.2 Intermediate Court Tuesday.
The two con men, Wang Di and Zhu Shuangshuang, used fake identities and rented luxury apartments in Beijing. The pair conned their famous victims into believing they could help them purchase the properties for below market price. No verdict was handed down Tuesday.
