A total of 887,314 infectious disease cases were reported on the Chinese mainland last month, causing 1,786 deaths, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said Monday.
Most of the deaths, 1,672 cases, were caused by Category B notifiable diseases, with the five most frequently reported diseases in June comprising hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, dysentery and gonorrhea, the ministry said in a statement.
No cases of plague, a Category A disease, were reported on the mainland in June, while eight non-fatal cases of cholera were reported, the statement said.
According to the MOH, 114 of the 547,737 reported cases of Category C infectious diseases were fatal. About 97 percent of the Category C infectious diseases reported were cases of hand-foot-mouth disease, infectious diarrhea and mumps, the statement said.
