Chinese FM: Huangyan Island always part of Chinese territory

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has reiterated China's stance that Huangyan Island has always been a part of Chinese territory and is not a disputed island.

The minister's statement came in response to remarks by some countries at the ASEAN Regional Forum on a recent incident between China and the Philippines involving the island.

Yang accused the Philippines of sending a naval vessel to hurt Chinese fishermen in Chinese territory. Yang called on the Philippine side to face the reality of the situation and not to make trouble.
