Following is the statement from the Chinese Olympic delegation regarding swimmer Ye Shiwen, who has been in the center of speculation after winning the women's 400m individual medley in a world record time on Saturday:
"Nearly 100 drug tests have been conducted on Chinese athletes since we arrived here. So far, no positive cases has been informed.
"It is unfair to refer the excellent performance to the use of banned substances. Swimming is a high-profile sport under the scrutiny of the WADA, so as in China.
"The Chinese Swimming Association has been firm in the crackdown on doping. Whoever is caught for doping offence will be punished severely. Chinese swimmers' breakthroughs in recent years are the results of scientific training and hard work."
