Four people were killed and 17 others trapped in a coal mine accident in northeast China's Jilin Province on Monday, local authorities said.
The accident, believed to be triggered by gas, happened around 6 a.m. at Jisheng Coal Mine in the city of Baishan, according to the authorities.
A total of 116 miners were working underground when the accident occurred, and 95 of them were lifted out of the mine safely.
Rescue work for the trapped miners is underway.
The Jilin provincial government has ordered a thorough work safety check in the province.
