An 8-month-old girl with leukemia was abandoned in a local market on Aug 9 at Jinshan district.
No one has claimed the baby.
The chubby girl, wearing a red dress and shoes, was sitting in a blue baby buggy with a can of milk powder, a pack of diapers and some clothes when police found her, according to Liu Ming of the Jinshanwei police department.
The girl was taken later that day to a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with leukemia, the official micro blog of the Jinshan police department said.
Police said a middle-aged man in a white T-shirt was seen on surveillance video taking the baby buggy to the market of Jinshanwei Town that afternoon. The man has not yet been found.
Police are trying to identify the infant's relatives by interviewing those working in hospitals and public transportation, as well as residents of nearby communities.
Those with any information about the baby are encouraged to call police.
