Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla Miranda visited northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Saturday and Sunday.

Chinchilla visited the Museum of the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang, the ancient city wall and other historical sites in Shaanxi.

The president said she was quite impressed with the level of protection of historical relics and the environment in Xi'an, the provincial capital.

She also said she expects further cooperation in education, energy and infrastructure construction with Shaanxi.

Zhao Zhengyong, governor of Shaanxi, met with Chinchilla and her delegation.

Chinchilla kicked off an eight-day state visit to China on Aug. 12 at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Chinchilla, the first female president of the central American nation, assumed office in May 2010.
