Senior leader Li Changchun has urged the Inner Mongolia autonomous region to transform its growth pattern, foster innovation and enhance cultural construction so as to make "leapfrog development."
From Aug. 18 to 22, Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, toured several cities in Inner Mongolia, including Ordos and Hohhot, where he visited enterprises, schools and rural areas.
While visiting the Yili Industrial Group Co. and Mengniu Dairy Group, China's two biggest dairy producers, Li urged the two companies to set up quality guarantee systems and step up monitoring at all stages to provide safe products for the public.
"Quality is the lifeline of an enterprise," he stressed.
At the Zhong Xing Special Vehicle Manufacturing Co. and a new materials industrial park located in Hohhot, Li encouraged workers to enhance innovation and make breakthroughs in core technology to gain an advantageous position in the industrial chain.
During the five-day tour , Li also inspected desertification control efforts in the region and toured cultural relics.
He asked Inner Mongolia to make better use of its rich cultural resources to spread its culture nationwide and to the world.
