It is reported from CMO that this year's No. 14 severe typhoon "Tembin" and No. 15 severe tropical storm "Bolaven" may land in China. The number of typhoons landing in China in this August may hit record.

It is introduced by expert of CMA Typhoon and Marine Meteorological Forecasting Center that this year, the temperature of northwest Pacific has been high and convective activity has been strong. Meanwhile, Southwest Monsoon is also active which is beneficial for the landing of typhoons in China.

When the environmental background field is relatively stable, some regions will be beneficial for forming typhoon. After the typhoon moving, that region will also form new because there is no big change in the environment background field. So when typhoons are active in some period, then they may form or land one after another.

Until August 21, there have been 15 tropical cyclones in northwest Pacific and the South China Sea, which was 2.3 more than the same period of the past (12.7). 6 of them have landed in China, 2.1 more than the normal (3.9). In August, 4 typhoons have landed in China. In the record, the maximum number is 5 (in 1994 and 1995).
