A Sunday landslide has damaged homes, left one person dead and 13 others injured in southwest China's Sichuan province, local authorities said Monday.
The landslide tumbled down a mountain into a disused quarry at 7 p.m., forcing water contained in the quarry to spill out, flooding eight homes and a passing vehicle in Wenxing county, a county government spokesman said.
One person had been confirmed dead and another 13 sent to a hospital for treatment as of Monday afternoon. The condition of the injured remains unknown, the spokesman said, adding that five of the eight homes were damaged by the flooding.
An investigation into the cause of the landslide is under way.
