Senior Chinese leader watches national music concert

Senior Chinese leader Li Changchun on Sunday watched a concert featuring traditional Chinese music from Guangdong region.

The concert, staged by the Guangdong National Orchestra of China at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, featured traditional Chinese music originally from the southeast Guangdong province played with traditional instruments .

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, watched the performance together with local audiences.

Li urged the orchestra to hold on to its market-oriented approach in its operation, pursue innovations and spread Chinese traditional music far and wide, so that traditional music could prosper and go global.
