The Shanghai South Long-Distance Bus Station will begin Friday selling tickets one month in advance for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday travel rush, authorities said Monday.
More than 650,000 passengers are expected to depart or arrive at the station from September 29 to October 7.
Passenger volume may break the station's single-day record by the end of the month, with an estimated 56,000 people leaving on nearly 2,000 buses each day. Most passengers are expected to take trips within the Yangtze River Delta Region. The station will return to selling tickets seven days in advance on October 8.
Authorities also plan to open an additional 16 mobile kiosks around the city where tickets can be bought.
Tickets can also be booked over the phone by calling 5435-3535 or online by visiting the station's official website at www.ctnz.net.
