Top political advisor Jia Qinglin has urged various advisory bodies for more theoretical research on the political consultative system.

Jia, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks Tuesday at the opening ceremony for a two-day seminar on the theoretical research of the country's political advisory system.

Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, stressed that the people's political consultative theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics pinpoints the position, nature, functions and working principles of the consultative system in a new era. He said that it was a "mighty theoretical weapon" to guide the development of the political advisory cause.

According to Jia, theoretical innovation has been serving a key role in pushing forward practical innovations in the development of the political consultative system.

Jia urged political advisory bodies to summarize past experiences and accelerate the theoretical construction of the system by focusing research on realistic issues.
