A pileup involving five vehicles killed seven people and injured two others Tuesday afternoon on an expressway in northwest China's Shaanxi province, local traffic police said.
The pileup occurred at 3:30 p.m., when a truck rear-ended four cars on a section of the Baomao (Baotou-Maoming) Expressway in Luochuan county in the city of Yan'an, police said.
Rescue work is under way.
Traffic on the section of expressway has been suspended and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
