Relations between China and United States are now on a strong and solid basis, US Secretary of Sate Hillary Clinton said while meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing on Wednesday.
Hu conveyed his thanks to Clinton, who is on her 7th visit to China as America's top diplomat, for her efforts in promoting China-US ties.
According to Clinton, the two countries have invested in "such intensive communication and now we are working on practical cooperation…our relationship is on a strong and solid basis."
"We are able to explore areas of agreement and areas of disagreement in a very open manner, which demonstrates the maturity of our relationship and the opportunities for us to take it even further in the future," Clinton said.
The US Secretary of State arrived in Beijing on Tuesday in a bid to ease tensions over US involvement in the territorial disputes and an increasing military presence in the region.
