Zhou urges China-Singapore social management co-op

Senior Chinese leader Zhou Yongkang met with Goh Chok Tong, Singapore's emeritus senior minister, in Beijing on Monday, calling for strengthening bilateral cooperation in social management.

Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the CPC and the Chinese government are working for better and more innovative social management in accordance amid a developing and changing economic and social situation.

Zhou, also secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, said China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Singapore to learn from each other in social management.

This field can become a newly important area of bilateral cooperation as the two countries have had significant cooperation in high technology, personnel training, Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-City, according to Zhou.

The two sides should cooperate more in this regard to promote the building of harmonious society and better benefit the two peoples, he said.

Goh said he supports the two sides strengthening exchanges and cooperation in social management so as to resolve prominent problems in social development.
