A center devoted to providing services to the migrant population will be built near the hardware market in Foshan, Guangdong province, where 2-year-old girl Yue Yue died after being run over by two vehicles in October last year.
The construction of the five-story building in Dali town, Nanhai district, will be finished early next year, Nanfang Daily reported.
The services targeting the migrant population include those in family planning, social insurance, public security, business services and application approvals for running businesses.
Social workers will be positioned to offer services and care to migrant families. A research department will be set up to improve the services before the model is spread to other parts of Nanhai district.
A center in the hardware market will provide some child-care services.
Yue Yue's death, and the fact that she was ignored by 18 passers-by as she lay injured, prompted a lot of soul-searching and review of the management of the migrant population.
