Hong Kong Chief Executive welcomes Paralympic athletes

Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung Tuesday welcomed the return of the Hong Kong, China delegation to the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Leung presented certificates of appreciation to the athletes in recognition of their remarkable results in the games.

Speaking at the welcome-home ceremony, Leung congratulated them on their outstanding performance. He praised them for their efforts to overcome challenges and break through limits, as well as for the high morale they displayed in the games.

He called on the Hong Kong community to support the development of disability sports and encourage disabled athletes to participate in international competitions and develop their potential.

The London Paralympic Games ran from August 29 to September 9. Twenty-eight Hong Kong athletes took part in athletics, boccia, equestrian, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and wheelchair fencing events, winning three gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.
