Five people were killed and another 23 injured after two buses crashed head-on into each other Wednesday in northwest China's Gansu Province, local authorities said.
The collision, which occurred at around 9:30 a.m. in Huanxian County, killed two people on the spot. Another three died in hospital, according to sources with the provincial work safety department and the county government.
The accident also injured 23 people, four of whom were injured seriously, said the sources.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
