China and Arabian countries should enhance cultural exchange to reach new consensus in the future, said a Chinese official on Wednesday.

In a keynote speech at the China-Arab States Cultural Industry Development and Cooperation Forum in Yinchuan, China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Cai Guoying, a Standing Committee member and Secretary General of the region's CPC Committee, noted the importance of the forum.

"Drawing support from the strategic platform of 3rd China-Arab States Economic and Trade Forum, the culture industry development and cooperation forum is a significant strategic action to further deepen China's cultural exchange, especially in the field of cultural industry cooperation with Arab League countries and Muslim trade areas," Cai said.

With the world multi-polarization and economic globalization going on, it has become an inevitable tendency to developing cultural industry and expand cultural industry collaboration around the world, Cai added.

He also pointed out that the severe global financial crisis has forced the countries to optimize their industrial structure while turning the development mode for a strong cultural industry.

Themed Sino-Arabic cultural cooperation and development, this forum was established for the first time since the China-Arab States Economic and Trade Forum started in 2010.

As a part of the forum, a seminar on Hui and Islamic Art was also held.

Foreign cultural officials and experts were invited to experience the local cultural projects and products.

More than 30 domestic and overseas officials and experts from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Thailand, Malaysia attended the event.

The 3rd China-Arab States Economic and Trade Forum, also known as the China (Ningxia) International Investment and Trade Fair, is scheduled for Sept. 12 to 16.

Ningxia is the country's only provincial-level autonomous region for the Hui ethnic group.
