Water-saving products made by Chinese companies, including ceramic cartridge faucets, ceramic toilets and PP-R plastic water pipes, have seen their quality significantly improved, test results based on six years of sample checks showed Tuesday.
A total of 400 out of 460 such products that withstood government checks have met water-saving requirements, a government press release said.
Vice Minister of Water Resources Hu Siyi said that building a water-saving society is the fundamental solution for addressing problems facing China's water resources.
China's per capita possession of water resources is 2,100 cubic meters, or 28 percent of the world's water supply, and water pollution brought on by a rapidly urbanizing society has aggravated the country's water provisions, according to the ministry.
The test results were released at a national conference held in Beijing on the quality and promotion of water-saving products.
