Sanqingshan added to global geoparks network

UNESCO has announced that China's Sanqingshan Geopark, together with three other geoparks from Indonesia, Hungary and Spain have been added to the global geoparks network. This brings the total number of geoparks in the network to 91, in 27 countries.

Sanqingshan is a renowned Taoist sacred mountain located 35 kms north of Yushan County in Jiangxi Province. Sanqing means the "Three Pure Ones" in Chinese as Mount Sanqing is made up of three main summits: Yujing, Yushui, and Yuhua, representing the Taoist trinity.

Amongst the three hills, the Yujing hill, nearly 2,000 meters above sea level, is the highest. It contains about 1000 species of flora and 800 types of fauna.
