China will deepen reform of the press and publication sector to develop a number of well-known groups in the world, a senior official said on Sunday.
After ten years of reform, publication units had basically been transformed into companies, but their vitality had not been fully aroused, said Liu Binjie, head of the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP).
Liu told a symposium attended by the heads of publication and media companies that measures should be taken to enhance the modern corporate system.
Additionally, Liu urged the sector to expand cooperation with private capital on products, projects and funding.
