China's top legislator Wu Bangguo attended the opening ceremony of an international fair held in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Tuesday.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, opened the 13th Western China International Fair (WCIF) on Tuesday evening.
A gala showcasing western China's long history and modern civilization was held as a prelude to the event.
The fair mainly exhibits products of electronic information, equipment manufacturing, new energy and new materials, as well as those converted from hi-tech achievements this year.
The event was first held in 2000 with the progress of global economic integration and China's implementation of the western development strategy.
