CPC think tank eschews 'China model' for 'China road'

2012-09-27 08:42 Xinhua     Web Editor: Mo Hong'e comment

When describing China's development journey, a communist theory expert said "China road" is a more accurate term than "China model."

Zhang Hongzhi, vice director of the Party Literature Research Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Party's think tank, said at a press conference on Wednesday that the word "model" has a connotation of being fixed, but China's development has seen the CPC constantly exploring appropriate roads of development in accordance with the country's actual circumstances.

Also, Zhang said a "model" indicates something that could be copied elsewhere as a one-size-fits-all pattern, but the CPC believes that each country has to search for its own development path, rather than copying others' paths.

Zhang said "China road" refers to the journey the CPC independently explores for answers to various questions concerning China's revolution, construction and reform, as well as the journey leading to China's modernization.

Cheng Yangyong, a researcher with the Party Literature Research Office, said the most important characteristic of the "China road" is that the CPC adopts basic Marxist principles according to the country's actual conditions while making its own policies and walking its own road.

The press conference, held by the International Communication Office of the CPC Central Committee, briefed attendees on the progress made by the Party Literature Research Office in studying and compiling Party theories and literatures.
