The China Art Palace, which is housed in the nation's pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai Expo, will open its doors on Monday.
The museum showcases fine art collections from the Shanghai Art Museum, as well as from institutions from across China and abroad.
One of the highlights of the expo pavilion was a digital rendering of Qingming Shang He Tu, or Along the River During Qingming Festival, an ancient scroll painting, which will also be on display at the China Art Palace in the near future.
Visitors can reserve a maximum of five tickets online by registering online at artshow.eastday.com. Tickets can then be collected at 10 locations in the city.
A new Shanghai Metro stop for visitors, China Art Palace Station on Line 8, will start operating on Friday.
The Shanghai Biennale will also start on Monday at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, on the opposite bank of the Huangpu River. The new 1213 bus route will connect the two new venues.
