China launched an e-learning academy on Thursday to enhance the training of its cadres.

The "China E-learning Academy for Leadership" (www.cela.gov.cn) was created as a national platform with functions such as information publishing, online learning and training management.

Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said at the launch ceremony that the academy was founded to provide services for the growth of cadres.

The academy takes cadres at the county and division levels and higher as its main students, and those cadres in central Party and government organs and Beijing's Party and government organs will be the first recruits.

In 2015, the recruits will include all cadres at the department level in the country. Two years later, all cadres at the county and division levels will be able to take part in the academy.

The academy should make full use of network information technology to strengthen cadres' education and training, Li said, adding that, to make the academy more popular and helpful, it should meet the diversified and individualized learning demands of cadres.
