Heavy fog caused a series of eight traffic accidents that killed three people, injured 14 and involved 31 vehicles early Thursday on a city highway in North China's Tianjin Municipality, local authorities said.
The accidents happened just before 6:35 am on the Baodi section of the highway linking the city center and Jixian county.
The pileups were triggered by the collision of two trucks.
All the injured, including two who are in serious condition, were taken to hospital.
The highway reopened after 1 pm.
