The Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam held a reception in celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the National Day of China in Vietnamese capital Hanoi on Friday.
Kong Xuanyou, the Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, introduced the recent economic and social development and achievement of China, when addressing the ceremony. He said since last year, confronted with the profound changes in international politics and world economy and the frequent national natural disasters, the Chinese government has taken a positive coping strategy and acquired a 7.8 percent GDP growth in the first half of this year, realizing the scheduled target of the government.
"The China-Vietnam relations maintain a momentum of progressive development with the joint efforts of both sides in recent years," said Ambassador Kong Xuanyou.
"Within half a month's time in September this year, Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang; Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. During the meetings, broad consensus on properly handling the maritime disputes, improving and developing bilateral relations and strengthening bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership have been achieved among the leaders."
Bilateral exchange and cooperation in various areas develops in an all-round way with the coordination of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.
In 2012, the communist parties of the two countries successfully held the Eighth Theory Study, and the two ministries of defense conducted the Sixth Defense Consultation.
The bilateral trade volume from January to August this year amounted to 26.4 billion U.S. dollars. The 286 million U.S. dollars preferential buyer's loan providing by China to Vietnam is now implemented step by step, and the established cooperation projects such as the economic and trade cooperation zone is under construction.
China has been the biggest trading partner to Vietnam for the last eight consecutive years, while among ASEAN countries, Vietnam has become the fifth largest trading partner to China.
With more than 16,000 students studying in China, Vietnam is now the fourth largest source country for China in terms of overseas students. The two sides signed the Agreement on Basic Principles Guiding the Settlement of Maritime Issues Existing between the two countries, laying a foundation for the friendly consultation and proper solution on the maritime issues.
"The ever broadening and deepening bilateral relation brings tangible benefits to the peoples of our countries," Ambassador Kong concluded, "China and Vietnam are good neighbors sharing the same rivers and mountains, to develop friendly cooperation between China and Vietnam serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples and is also of vital importance to regional peace, stability and prosperity."
"We are willing to work with the Vietnam side, under the guidance of 'Sixteen Word Guiding Principle' and 'Four Good Spirits', to push the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level."
On the occasion, Nguyen Thien Nhan, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam also addressed the reception, "The Vietnamese people would like to share the joy with the Chinese people on those achievements and sincerely wish the people of China further outstanding achievements in the cause of reform and opening-up, and the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics."
"I believe that China's development will bring about many opportunities to promote the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and regional countries in general, and between China and Vietnam in particular, thus contributing to the common development of the region and the wider world."
"Vietnam and China enjoy a traditional and long-standing friendship. The Party, Government and people of Vietnam always treasure in the heart and mind the precious support and great assistance that the Party, Government and people of China have rendered to Vietnam in the course of national liberation and building of a socialist country."
"The good traditional relations between Vietnam and China represent a valuable treasure to both nations. Our generation and the future generations will have the responsibility to cherish, preserve and increasingly promote the relations between the two countries," said Nguyen Thien Nhan.
"With respect to the unresolved issues, I believe that with the determination and efforts of both sides, the matters can be gradually and satisfactorily settled in the interest of each side as well as for peace, stability and cooperation in the region," he said.
Over 400 representatives from the Chinese embassy and Chinese companies in Vietnam, as well as the Vietnamese government, party, army and friendly organizations, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Vietnam attended the reception.
