The death toll in a bus accident in central China's Hunan Province rose to nine on Friday evening after three people who were seriously injured in the accident died in hospital, according to local officials.
The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Zhonghuopu Village in Huaihua City's Chenxi County, when a bus ran into a roadside crowd after the driver lost control of the vehicle, Huaihua municipal government officials said.
Six people were killed at the scene and five injured were sent to the hospital.
Two survivors who were injured in the accident are still receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Chenxi County. Doctors said their injuries are not life-threatening.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
