Southwest China's Yiliang county, where a rain-triggered landslide on Thursday claimed 19 lives, will continue to receive light to moderate rain this week, the country's meteorological authorities forecast Saturday.

The county, located in Yunnan Province, will see light to moderate rain from Saturday to Monday, with temperatures ranging from 16 to 20 degrees Celsius, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

Yiliang, which was struck by multiple earthquakes that killed 81 people on Sept. 7, has been hit by persistent rain since early September, which geological experts singled out as the primary cause of the landslide.

Meanwhile, a cold front will hit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Saturday and then move east, dropping temperatures by four to 12 degrees Celsius, the NMC said.

From Saturday to Monday, the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and most areas in southwest China will also see continuous rain, according to the NMC.
