The head of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee for Discipline Inspection has called on anti-corruption bodies to promote the combat against corruption and to build clean party and government.

He Guoqiang made the call at a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Coordination Team of the party's Central Committee. He said the cases of former Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Bo Xilai and police chief Wang Lijun reflect the CPC's desire to relentlessly pursue officials who violate party discipline. He said "the corrupt ones, no matter who, will be relentlessly dealt with without mercy and will never be given a chance to escape punishment in accordance with Party discipline and the law".

He Guoqiang also said the CPC has punished as many as 660,000 officials in the past 5 years alone for a range of disciplinary violations. He called for a strong momentum in the fight against corruption. He said China will unswervingly combat corruption and step up efforts to solve the cases that concern people the most.
