The Palace Museum is advising visitors not to buy "guide maps" sold by hawkers, China National Radio reported on Tuesday.
Its warning comes after a tourist from Shandong province found nearly 100 mistakes in an "official guide map" that he bought from a ticket office during his visit to the museum, local media reported.
In response to the report, the museum said that it does not sell guide maps at its ticket offices and that free maps are available inside the museum.
