Chinese weightlifters won a total of 36 gold medals and six silvers at the 2012 Asian Cup and Interclub Weightlifting Championship, according to the Asian Weightlifting Federation on Wednesday.
China became the biggest winner of the continental sevent after claiming snatch, clean and jerk as well as overall titles in men's 56, 62, 69, 77, 94 and over 105 kg categories and women's 48, 53, 58, 63, 69, 75 kg.
The championship, which concluded on Tuesday night, consisted of eight categories for men and seven categories for women.
During the competitions on Tuesday, China's Li Lizhi, Tao Jin, Huang Wenwen, Zhong Guoshun, Li Bing and Ai Yunan pulled off 18 gold medals from six men's categories while Ouyang Xiaofang, Chen Aichan and Lin Tingting bagged nine golds from three women's classes.
In addition, China's Xie Wei also won three silvers in men's 94 kg category.
Earlier on Monday, China's Huang Yuezhen, Zhang Wanqiong and Li Yanyan had already grabbed nine gold medals in 48,53 and 58 kg categories in women's events.
Mongolian lifters Mygmarsu Myamsuren and Lkhagva Ganshukh won all the gold medals in women's over 75kg category and 85kg category for men. The remaining golds in men's 105 kg category went to Uzbekistan.
The championship, which started last Saturday, also featured competitions for juniors and youths, in which China didn't enter athletes.
