The DFA said in a statement that during the 18th Foreign Ministry Consultations (FMC), high officials from the two countries are going to review their existing cooperation and chart future direction of diplomatic relations.

According to the statement, the Chinese delegation will be led by Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying, who served as ambassador to the Philippines from 1998 to 2000, and the Philippine panel will be headed by DFA Undersecretary for Policy Erlinda F. Basilio.

The Chinese delegation will also visit Philippine Foreign Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario, it added.

The FMC is a routine bilateral forum meant to be a venue for the two countries to discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual concern, as well as to explore and deepen areas of cooperation in various fields. The 17th FMC was held in Beijing Jan. 14 this year.
