Thyroid cancer is the fastest growing cancer in Beijing, and its incidence increased 225.2 percent in 10 years, the Beijing Evening News reported.
The municipal health bureau chief said the difference between thyroid cancer and other cancers is it occurs when victims are still at a young age, in their 30s or 40s, while other cancers might occur after their 50s.
About nine percent of the thyroid cancer is caused by exposure to radiation. Experts suggested residents, especially children and teenagers, should stay away from radiation sources.
